Trauma is a word that can feel overused, yet in specific environments, it’s not addressed nearly enough. In my view, trauma is often absent from the places where it matters most. This perspective comes from my 14 years in private practice, where I primarily worked with clients from three professional fields.
1. Doctors:
Despite significant research linking trauma to conditions like cancer and depression, most doctors do not receive even a week of training on trauma as a root cause. My keynote inspires doctors to explore ancient sciences as part of patient care. Through my talk, I teach foundational practices like breathwork, brain-focused exercises, and creative arts as tools to reach a child’s walls or an individual’s physical and emotional pain.
What makes my story relevant? I was attacked and nearly strangled to death by my mother at age 8. The trauma left me with severe pain and health issues throughout my life. When my father past three years ago, I began hearing his voice—a journey that led me to ancient healing sciences. I took two years of work, relying on my savings instead of my disability. During this time, I released trauma stored in my body, used medical-grade water with PubMed-backed research, consumed herbs and superfoods, and connected with my angels. This journey of healing from within is the paradigm shift I aim to bring to doctors. They have the power to be the smile or energy that lets a child or adult know they are seen and heard and have natural paths to healing.
2. Lawyers face immense stress in their work. I’ve encountered many good-hearted lawyers in my yoga and meditation workshops. My work explores questions from the lens of a victim and offers tools for healing and understanding.
3. Teachers are highly educated, yet many experience trauma themselves through ADHD, bullying, or other challenges. However, trauma training is often missing from their education. Drawing from my extensive teaching experience at universities, charter schools, senior homes, and corporate settings, I’ve seen how impactful these tools can be.
Why Me? I call myself a speaker, singer, and intuitive healer because my journey has been guided by something greater than myself. From being silenced as a child to performing on New York City stages, to almost losing my life, I’ve emerged as a healer, teacher, and guide. I aim to share my life’s lessons with these three professions and beyond.
When professionals are equipped with trauma-informed training and proven tools, we can build a brighter, more compassionate playground for everyone to work and thrive in.
Let’s start a conversation. I would be honored to speak at your next event or host a workshop to introduce a new paradigm for healing. I would also be happy to share my traditional resume with you. Sending you Blessings,
Heather Ann Ferri
